Who is the New Superman? DC Reboot Update

While aiming to become Marvel's rival, the DCEU (DC Extended Universe) ultimately shut down and announced a reboot. Warner Bros. launched the DCEU in 2013 with 'Man of Steel,' starring Henry Cavill as Superman. However, films like 'Batman v Superman' (2016) and 'Justice League' (2017) faced setbacks, causing significant instability within the DC franchise.

Following this, Warner Bros. recruited James Gunn, who had successfully helmed 'Guardians of the Galaxy' at Marvel Studios, to oversee the reboot of the DC Universe. The first film in the new DC Universe, just like before the reboot, will be a Superman movie. Titled 'Superman: Legacy,' this film will be directed by James Gunn and is slated for release in 2025.

Superman - David Corenswet

The actor taking on the role of Superman, one of the most iconic characters in American superhero films and comics, is David Corenswet, a 1993-born American actor. Standing tall at 193cm, he has garnered attention for his appearance, which resembles a younger version of Henry Cavill, the previous Superman.

He started his career as a child actor, but hasn't appeared in many widely recognized films or TV series. One of his most notable works is the Netflix original series 'The Politician,' where he played a fairly significant character.

Lois Lane - Rachel Brosnahan

Lois Lane will be portrayed by Rachel Brosnahan. She appeared in the 2013 Netflix original 'House of Cards' and the 2017 Amazon Prime Original 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.' 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' is particularly noteworthy as one of Brosnahan's most successful projects.

Hawk Girl - Isabela Merced

The actress taking on the role of Hawk Girl is Isabela Merced, a 2001-born Peruvian actress. Her most well-known work is the 2017 film 'Transformers: The Last Knight.' In this movie, Isabela played Izabella, an orphaned girl from Chicago.

She will also be appearing in the Sony Spider-Man Universe movie 'Madame Web,' which is set to be released in February.

Beyond these confirmed roles, Warner Bros. and James Gunn are still considering various casting options. For instance, for the role of Supergirl, Milly Alcock, who played Rhaenyra Targaryen in 'House of the Dragon,' is considered a strong contender.
