A year ago, Bob Iger, who returned as Disney's CEO, declared that he would bring back Disney's successful franchises to theaters. The films announced at that time were Zootopia 2, Toy Story 5, and Frozen 3.

A year later today, Iger has updated the progress once again. These films now have specific release dates, and some are already producing two sequels simultaneously. These films are expected to bring a rebound to Disney's box office slump.

Zootopia 2

Zootopia 2, Frozen 3, and Toy Story 5 Release Dates Updated

Zootopia 2 is scheduled to be released on November 26, 2025. It's been almost 10 years since the first film was released in January 2016.

Zootopia was a hit film that grossed over $1 billion worldwide. The protagonist, Judy Hopps, is the first rabbit police officer. She struggles to adapt to her job in Zootopia, a city inhabited by various animals. Moreover, Nick Wilde, a sly fox, is an unbelievable ally. However, they cooperate to prevent a conspiracy in the city of Zootopia.

In 2022, "Zootopia+," a Disney+ series, was released. It's a six-part animated series featuring supporting characters from Zootopia.

Although the exact release date for Frozen 3 is not known, Bob Iger, Disney's CEO, revealed that it is scheduled to be released sometime in 2026. The Disney movie release schedule has a vacant spot on November 25, 2026, and it seems likely that Frozen 3 will fill that slot.

Above all, Frozen 4 is also being produced simultaneously. Jennifer Lee, the director of Frozen 1 and 2, stated that narratively, two more films are needed. Since the two films are being made at the same time, we might not have to wait 5-6 years for Frozen 4.

Toy Story 5

Zootopia 2, Frozen 3, and Toy Story 5 Release Dates Updated

Similar to Frozen, it will be released sometime in 2026. It's the least known of the Disney films with scheduled release dates. Audiences were not necessarily receptive to this film due to the perfect ending of Toy Story 4. However, it seems that Pixar officials welcome this opportunity. While the return of the cast hasn't been confirmed, Tim Allen, who voiced Buzz Lightyear, has expressed his willingness to return.
